• Firstly, to preserve human dignity, because poverty deprives human beings of their basic human rights (their pride);
• Secondly, to guarantee public safety by protecting poor populations from activities such as crime, theft, drug trafficking, prostitution, juvenile delinquency, etc., which entail high costs in terms of criminal justice and public safety expenditure. Poverty can also lead to high levels of social and political instability, as poor populations are more likely to turn to violence and criminal activity to meet their needs;
• Tercio,to guarantee personal economic self-sufficiency by reducing the precariousness of people suffering from diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV AIDS and many others, by helping them to create activities that provide them with regular income to improve their quality of life and facilitate their access to healthcare.
• Fourth, to eradicate the social inequalities created by the exploitation of the world’s wealth and people by the rich countries. The current economic system largely benefits a tiny minority of wealthy men to the detriment of the majority of the population, especially women.
